Palla Rossa is a traditional Radicchio. It has firm, cabbage-like hearts with red-maroon and white leaves giving colour and crunchiness to salads. Palla rossa 3 has probably the best colour of all the radicchio types and can also be grown as baby-leaf for salad mixes. It matures in 75-80 days.
